5 years...

We celebrated the incredible blessing of being in business in the Short North for 5 years with a lovely Mother Earth themed party, complete with floral crowns and goddess attire. Valerie made the most delicious party finger foods, and Sharon painted the lovely saying onto our back wall. Thanks Nicole for all of the photos- and thanks everyone who came! The biggest thank you goes to all of you who have supported Rose Bredl in so many ways through the past 5 years- we wouldn't be here without you!

Showered with Love

Over the weekend my sister(s) and my amazing team at rose bredl threw me the most lovely baby shower at the store. Ginger & Birch made the most delicious salad, and my favorite- her almond flour bread with honey butter (YUM!) Take home treats included adorable little arrangements by Mary and delicious pumpkin and vanilla bean macaroons from Pistacia Vera. I (and little baby Diamond) feel so very loved!

little prepster baby shower

I recently was lucky enough to attend this adorable baby shower for a friend and her baby boy on the way. I loved all of the cute nautical and preppy details- from the sailboat desserts to the madras bunting. Even better? Not only were the flowers from Rose Bredl, so were the prizes! These hostesses knew how to throw a party (it felt almost more like girls night in than a baby shower). Now we just have to wait for that little man to get here...

flowers in the window

just like everyone's favorite Travis song...right? But aren't these pretty? You can easily do this yourself for a party (a shower, perhaps?) or just because its nice to be greeted with flowers on any occasion.
to accomplish:
1. Take an standard size piece of kraft paper and fold into a cone
2. fill a plastic bag with water and secure with a rubber band around the stem of your chosen flower (or use floral tubes from any floral supplies carrier)
3. gently snestle flowers down inside paper cone- use a rock for weight if needed.
4. tie with pretty ribbon or twine and voila!

Oh Delicious: Autumn Pairing

Photobucket

I stumbled on both of these recipes in the past week and thought they would make the perfect fare for an autumn party- a cocktail featuring not only apple brandy but maple syrup, and my friend Amy's bourbon spice pumpkin whoopie pies. *prepare yourself*

The Sidewalker
Adapted from Damon Boelte, Prime Meats
Makes 1 cocktail

1 ounce apple brandy (such as Laird's)
¾ ounce lemon juice
½ ounce maple syrup
¼ ounce apple cider vinegar
Cold wheat beer (such as Hefeweizen or Weihenstephaner hefeweissbier)
Lemon wedge, to garnish

Pour the brandy, lemon juice, maple syrup and vinegar into a cocktail shaker. Add ice and shake. Strain the cocktail into a chilled, tall glass and top with beer. Garnish with a lemon wedge.

If you want to go all the way... you can find autumn themed whoopie pie pans here.

Perfect for an outdoor summer party or wedding- these glittered hurricanes were super easy to make and the effect is magical (summer magical, you might say.)
Be warned though, once you start putting glitter on things, it's hard to stop.
All you need-
*glitter (Martha Stewart's glitter is amazing)
*craft glue
*sponge paintbrushes
*tea lights
*the DIY spirit

We've been getting ready for one of our bride's showers this week and the goods are just too fun not to share!
1. her wedding invitation- the packaging alone was to die for!
2. my own calligraphy on tiny ivory paper flags for the favors
3. Mary's careful handiwork- and the finished product! Ferns for all of the wedding shower guests.
