DIY Christmas: door swag

This super easy DIY swag came together in (literally) just minutes with the leftover greenery I bought at Rose Bredl for our mantel. It gave our doorway such a happy holiday spirit I thought I would share with you all how to make one for yourself.

You need:

• different wintertime greenery such as: pine, boxwood, evergreen, blue spruce, eucalyptus, or cypress.  
• a berry or second kind of greenery as an accent, like: privet berries, eucalyptus, rosehip, or pepper berry
• a monogram ornament. I used this one, but these are some other good options: 1. 2. 3. 4 & 5
• twine or a sturdy rubber band
• ribbon or twine to tie the look together. 

Get Started:

• cut your greenery to the desired length
• add accent berries/greenery and arrange until they're just to your liking
• secure with floral tape, heavy duty twine, or a heavy duty rubber band 
• add ornament (be sure to secure it to the greenery itself and then again with your twine/rubberband for an extra strong hold)
• tie up with ribbon (I like Midori ribbon which you can buy at RB and is double sided satin), or use twine for a more rustic look.
• hang where you like and ENJOY!

I love our Christmasy store front... I feel like it could be a cozy shop in England (though we love our home in the Short North of Columbus, of course.) The only thing it needs? SNOW!

We love our super-cute new Patch design studio dish towels. They're made of organic cotton, dyed with water-based inks and feature whimsical patterns like okra and cornbread (cornbread!) We are welcoming the holiday season at Rose Bredl with glad tidings and cozy joy- its the most wonderful time of the year and the shop is definitely reflecting that with new holiday goodies and fresh holiday greenery in surplus. Tis' the season!

Signs of Valentines are popping up around the shop- we are stocked with pretty pottery and peony pink goodness for the girl you love. This table makes me so happy- I especially love the idea of using that DBO tray in my own bathroom to display pretty toiletries.

As always, we had a blast at our centerpiece event! Thanks to everyone who came out, you all made beautiful works of art. This is the arrangement Mary made... I love the dusty miller! So wintry and elegant.

Rose Bredl Gifts: Terrariums

Terrariums make amazing gifts, and we're happy to now carry our own version at Rose Bredl. This is the one Mary made me, a begonia made perfect with spongy moss, and lava rocks in a le parfait mason jar. I added the starry string lights for a extra touch of holiday magic.

We love this cute last minute gift idea: delicious hot cocoa (we found this decadent variety and many other drinkable goodies at Bink Davies) and mini marshmallows tucked into a beautiful Eigan Arts mug and saucer from Rose Bredl... so easy and so cute!

Friends of Rose Bredl

This is Betsy, and we love Betsy! She has impeccable taste and effortless style, so when she pops in the store we are more than flattered. She stopped in tonight to pick up a fresh magnolia wreath for her fabulous new home, and was kind enough to answer a few questions... and she brought cookies!

Deck the Mantle

DIY RB ornaments

These ornaments are super easy to make and so cute hanging from fresh greenery anywhere in the home

to make you need:
fillable glass ornaments (available at your local craft store)
fake snow
wee little bits o' nature: we used tiny baby pinecones and leftover greenery, but dried berries, branches, acorns etc etc. will do, too.
twine

Once you have everything you want to fill your ornaments, just start filling them and play around until you find the combination you like best!

We are so grateful on this day for all of the blessings that have been given to us.
