Posy Cake

What a relaxing holiday weekend! We have a very busy, very exciting week ahead of us at Rose Bredl, it is going to be floral heaven around here for the next few days. I thought I'd start the work week on a sweet note with this beautiful floral cake by Melody at Sweet and Saucy- perfect for a garden- inspired wedding in late spring. Love the peonies, love the lacy texture of the fondant.

Pop it!

Visiting this week with my dear friend Deepa (author of Plants People) brought about the discussion of pie, hand- pies, and finally, the home-made pop-tart (all the rage)- and to me it seems like the perfect thing to share with friends and family for a holiday breakfast or wedding brunch. Portable, delicious, and free of all the unpronounceable things in regular pop-tarts (though there IS a place in life for those, too.) Be sure to dole out in glassine bags tied with ribbon for the full effect. If you want to try your own, Smitten Kitchen's recipe is tried and true.
With that we hope everyone has a fun and relaxing memorial day weekend, see you next week!

Great Garland!

Yesterday I came across these photos from a wedding Rose Bredl did last July, and couldn't believe we had never shared them here! The garland for the head table was (painstakingly) made of magnolia rope, blue delphinium, yellow garden roses, eucalyptus, hydrangea and more. We loved that the bride's vision for a garden wedding wasn't limited by her indoor venue!

Rose Petal Shower

It's almost June, and the height of wedding season is upon us- but brides aren't the only ones with parties to throw! Many of you have, are or will be hosting a shower soon. Why not make it a rosy affair? We put together some floral inspirations for your next party, be it a wedding shower or not! 1. Cheerup Cherup "shower the bride" shower invitations, we love Alaina and know you will love her gorgeous paper designs, too! 2. Garden roses (get them at Rose Bredl) 3. A delicious pink confection topped with red poppies (via Martha Stewart) 4. Apothecary's Cardamom Rose cocktail (umm YUM!), find the recipe here.

And a special thanks to Charice over at Cinnamon Ruffles for the garden rose photo

Creative Spaces: Schue Love

* If you don't already daily read Schue Love, you should! It is chock full of inspiration for everything from DIY home renovation, to fashion advice! You'll quickly feel like BFF with author Natasha, who couldn't be sweeter!*

Hi Readers! It's Natasha from Schue Love and I am thrilled that the lovely Meredith from Rose Bredl asked me to share my creative space{s} with all of you today!

I feel like I pull my creativity from a lot of spaces within our home, but it seems like the kitchen always ends up being our centralized hub.

The large kitchen island has allowed me to cook, cut flowers, wrap presents, among many other crafts and creative projects. I feel at home in the kitchen...and a good amount of that is because I helped knock the floors in and tile the backsplash! That kitchen is "me" through and through.

Yep! We did it all on our own! :)

Here a photos of hubby and I cooking in the kitchen...doing what we enjoy most! I love that that we can cook together and as a team...it's great bonding time! You can find our favorite recipes {so far!} here.

Another place I get really creative is outdoors...while gardening!

We don't get a very long season...so when the summer comes around...you'll be sure to find us outdoors!

Love my little succulent here...

Our little frog friend!

One thing is for sure...I wish I ran a floral studio so that I could constantly be surrounded by beautiful flowers all day long! At least I have Rose Bredl's blog to go to! :)

Thanks again for having me Meredith!

xo natasha

*Thanks again Natasha for taking the time to share your creative space with us, we LOVE the container gardening- and all of your succulents throughout!

A very merry

Happy Birthday Mary, from your team at Rose Bredl... we love you!

Birthday wear/carry

wear this amazing silk blouse from Prabel Gurung for J.Crew, then get a cart to help you carry all of your wonderful birthday presents home!

Creative Spaces: Kelley Hall

So, if you know anything about Rose Bredl, you know we LOVE all things K.Hall: home and body care products that are fabulously scented, with sophisticated packaging and are handmade in the USA! All this to say I am SO excited to share with you today's creative space- Kelley Hall of K.Hall Designs.
Kelley's creative space is full of top secret goodies, so instead she shares pictures of the "meeting area" of her design office space. Lucky her, it is in the carriage house behind her one hundred year old historic home in Webster Groves, MO. I love how absolutely cozy it is- you can definitely see why her products have such a sophisticated and classic feel. The whole space says clean and polished!
You can read more about Kelley, her husband John, and their business here. And of course, you can always find K.Hall goods at Rose Bredl!

Wedded Bliss, cont.

I love a good wedding kiss, don't you?
We're continuing a week of wedded bliss today with photos from Emma and Aaron's sweet wedding last weekend. Lots of gorgeous lavender and garden roses were just the right touch for Emma's vintage lace gown- and we love that the rain didn't ruin their parade (the bride wore wellies!) Best wishes to you both, and special thanks to Novia Distinctive for the photos, too!

Happy 9 year anniversary to Mary and Patrick! What a beautiful couple you make, I love the simple, elegant style of their wedding, very Rose Bredl. Mary says she loved her dress (long sleeves- so Royal Wedding) and veil but hated her hair, and that she wanted peonies but they were already out of season. The cake was a Martha Stewart recreation, isn't it gorgeous?? And my favorite detail? Mary says "May 18th has rained for the last 20 years but not that day, the sun shone and it was the most amazing day of my life!!!" Here's to many more years of rainy days to come, it looks like you two will weather the storms well!

Juicy Fruit

The grey weather has us craving all things bright and citrusy!
1. ranunculus from Rose Bredl 2. J. Crew bag 3. citrus fruits 4. my absolute favorite- Grown Up Soda in ruby grapefruit 5. bikini from anthropologie 6. pineapple jellie cubes from selfridges 7. print by Design Conspiracy for Kate Spade

Weekend Weddings

We thought we would share a little sneak preview of the weddings we were so lucky to participate in over the weekend- both involved beautiful brides, luscious flowers, and pops of yellow! Enjoy, and happy monday!

Something Blue

Well- due to blogger's little malfunction, we failed to have a Friday post! So even though it is Saturday in 3 minutes, I thought I would share with you this beautiful hair comb from lovey bride. We'll be pairing up with Jamie of Lovey Bride Columbus for her new site - debuting soon! (Columbus Brides, bookmarking this site will be a MUST in your planning!) Stay tuned for more info, and happy weekend!

We had SO much fun as a team last night at the Women's Fund Keyholder event. Goldie was every bit the fun and funny girl we expected her to be, and smart and loving, too. And of course, all of our hard work paid off the minute she walked out on stage, stopped to smell her flowers and then exclaimed to everyone that she LOVED them. We are so thankful for the opportunity to give back to such an amazing organization- thanks to everyone involved!

I lilac you, and laurel too

These gorgeous lilacs were for a wedding we did last weekend- they were so unbeleivably lush and smelled divine. I truly wish your computer screen was scratch and sniff so you could get the full experience! The laurel wreath is a nice spring touch, to0. It's all very green and lavender, isn't it?

Farmer's Market wear/carry

Most Ohio farmer's markets will be under way by this weekend. Wear this easy knit dress from Anthropologie to breeze past booths in style- carry all your farm fresh goods in our woven french market tote. Here's a good list of farmer's markets you can find in and around Columbus- enjoy.

Central Ohio Women's Fund

Man or Woman, support the Central Ohio women's fund! Be there Wednesday night at the Keyholder event to hear Goldie Hawn share on the joys of being a woman! Even better? Rose Bredl is lucky enough to be providing all of the floral arrangements for the event. And, its GOLDIE! I've always loved her fun sense of style and great sense of humor- what a beauty! I'll be honest, I could watch Overboard every day for the rest of my life. " I just, cough cough... ate a bug!"

There is no one like mom. She's gorgeous, smart, loving, caring, giving, perfectly imperfect, and downright crazy for putting up with us. There are so many fun things happening at Rose Bredl this coming week; weddings, a gallery hop, the Women's Fund event and more. But the thing we're trying to remember is who put us here in the first place, the person who always supports us: mom.
Some good ways to do that:
give her gorgeous pink garden roses.

or one of many amazing photo gifts from pinhole press

OR, go all out and send in a photo of your stylin' mom to "My Mom: Style Icon" (be sure to peruse for a retro good time)

PS- Mary's mom (on the left) as a young girl. Isn't she beautiful? I love that she and Mary share the same smile (it IS a gorgeous smile). My mom is on the right- I wish I could have ever rocked pigtails and looked as cute as she does.

Cinco de Mayo!

A good excuse to decorate like this:

and a really good excuse to drink this:

  • 1 cup sweetened shredded coconut
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup freshly squeezed lime juice, plus 2 tablespoons for glasses (about 5 limes)
  • 3/4 cup Coco Lopez or cream of coconut
  • 1/2 cup plus 2 tablespoons tequila
  • 1/4 cup Cointreau or other orange liqueur

  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees. On a rimmed baking sheet, toss coconut with the salt. Spread on sheet; toast in oven, stirring frequently, until golden brown, 8 to 10 minutes. Let cool, then crush with your hands until crumbly.

  2. Pour 2 tablespoons lime juice into a shallow dish. Place coconut mixture in another dish. Dip rims of two cocktail glasses in lime juice, then in coconut mixture, coating well.

  3. Combine remaining ingredients with 1 cup ice in a blender; puree until smooth. Divide evenly between prepared glasses, and serve immediately.

Besides, we have some good stuff coming up whether weather cooperates or not- like:
Mother's Day
General Goodness...

Best of British to the Bride and Groom!

Love was in the air over the weekend: everyone seemed to be celebrating the marriage of the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, (it was fun). Of course, a lot of us were having weddings this side of the pond, too! Congratulations Carolyn and Josh- your wedding was beautiful, and we were so happy and to be a part of it. The Queen may not have been in attendance, but it was a royal wedding indeed.
Photos are courtesy the very talented wedding photographer, Amy at C. Studios!
